BREAKING NEWS: In-State 4-Star Big Man Isaiah Hill Commits to Purdue Over Indiana, Georgetown, and TCU
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — In a major recruiting win for Purdue men’s basketball, 4-star big man Isaiah Hill from the class of 2027 has officially committed to the Boilermakers, choosing Matt Painter’s program over Indiana, Georgetown, and TCU.
The 6-foot-10 forward/center, a standout for the Indy Heat on the Nike EYBL circuit, made his announcement Monday afternoon, ending a tightly contested recruitment that had attracted national attention. Hill is widely regarded as one of the top frontcourt prospects in the Midwest, ranked among the top 60 players nationally in early 2027 rankings.
A native of Indianapolis, Hill’s decision to stay in-state and join Purdue is a significant victory for Painter and his staff, who have consistently emphasized player development and a system tailored to skilled big men. Purdue’s recent success developing frontcourt players—most notably two-time National Player of the Year Zach Edey—was reportedly a major factor in Hill’s decision.
“Coach Painter’s track record with bigs speaks for itself,” Hill said in a statement posted to social media. “They develop players the right way, they play through their bigs, and they win. I’m excited to be a part of that culture.”
Hill has impressed scouts with his combination of size, mobility, and touch around the basket. He’s known for his defensive instincts, rebounding ability, and developing mid-range game. During this past EYBL season, he averaged 12.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game, often facing elite competition on a nightly basis.
Purdue’s recruitment of Hill was relentless over the past several months, with multiple visits to West Lafayette and a strong relationship built with the coaching staff. His commitment further solidifies Purdue’s pipeline to top in-state talent and gives the Boilermakers an early cornerstone in their 2027 class.
Indiana had also been pushing hard for Hill, hoping to keep the Indianapolis star in Bloomington. Georgetown and TCU made strong impressions during official visits, but in the end, Purdue’s culture, development plan, and proximity to home won out.
With Hill on board, Purdue continues to position itself as a national power on the recruiting trail, and his pledge is expected to draw attention from other top-tier recruits across the country. Hill becomes the Boilermakers’ first commitment in the 2027 class, setting the tone for what could be another top-tier haul.
“I’m ready to work,” Hill said. “Boiler Up.”
