CONGRATULATIONS: Former Missouri Tigers QB Chase Daniel Celebrated as 2025 SEC Football Legend, Recognized for 12,515 Yards, 101 TDs, and Leadership, to be Honored at SEC Championship Game
Chase Daniel, one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in Missouri Tigers football history, is officially being recognized as a 2025 SEC Football Legend. The Southeastern Conference announced this week that Daniel, who rewrote the record books during his collegiate career, will be honored during the SEC Championship Game festivities later this year in Atlanta, Georgia.
Daniel played at Missouri from 2005 to 2008 and helped elevate the program to national prominence. Though Mizzou was part of the Big 12 during his time, Daniel’s selection as an SEC Legend acknowledges the Tigers’ contributions to college football both before and after their move to the SEC in 2012. His career totals remain staggering: 12,515 passing yards, 101 total touchdowns, and an unforgettable 2007 season that saw Missouri rise to a No. 1 national ranking.
Known for his poise, football IQ, and elite accuracy, Daniel guided the Tigers to back-to-back 10-win seasons and a berth in the 2008 Cotton Bowl, where Missouri defeated Arkansas. He was a Heisman Trophy finalist and won the 2007 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. His leadership, both on and off the field, has had a lasting impact on the program.
“It’s an incredible honor to be named an SEC Football Legend,” Daniel said in a statement. “My time at Missouri shaped who I am as a person and as a professional. I’m proud to represent Mizzou and to join the ranks of so many outstanding players who’ve made their mark on SEC football history.”
Following his college career, Daniel went on to play 14 seasons in the NFL, serving as a reliable backup and mentor for multiple teams including the New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, and Los Angeles Chargers. His longevity and professionalism made him one of the most respected quarterbacks in the league.
Missouri fans and alumni have long celebrated Daniel’s legacy, and his recognition as an SEC Legend is another milestone in a storied career. He joins a prestigious group of honorees from all 14 SEC schools, each selected for their extraordinary contributions to their programs and college football as a whole.
Daniel will be formally honored on December 6, 2025, during the SEC Championship Game weekend at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The SEC Legends class of 2025 will be recognized in a special on-field ceremony during the title game and at the annual SEC Legends Dinner.
For Missouri and college football fans alike, it’s a well-deserved salute to a Tiger great.
