BIG CONGRATULATIONS: Kasidi Pickering Recognized as Oklahoma Sooners Women’s Softball MVP, Receives Prestigious Honor
In a well-deserved celebration of excellence, Oklahoma Sooners freshman outfielder Kasidi Pickering has been officially named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2025 season for the Oklahoma Sooners Women’s Softball team. The announcement came just days after the Sooners concluded another impressive campaign, and Pickering’s honor was highlighted by her receipt of the Prestigious Sooner Athletic Excellence Award, given annually to the team’s standout player who demonstrates elite performance, leadership, and impact both on and off the field.
Pickering, who joined the Sooners as one of the most anticipated recruits of the season, exceeded expectations in her debut year. With a powerful bat, precise defense, and unwavering composure, she quickly became a fan favorite and a reliable force in head coach Patty Gasso’s starting lineup.
Over the course of the 2025 season, Pickering posted staggering numbers: a .391 batting average, 17 home runs, 59 RBIs, and a .705 slugging percentage. Her clutch performances in high-pressure moments, including the Big 12 Championship and Women’s College World Series (WCWS) run, proved vital in helping the Sooners maintain their reputation as a collegiate softball dynasty.
“Kasidi came into this program ready to work, and she never took a day off,” said Coach Gasso. “She’s fearless, dedicated, and driven — all the traits you want in a leader. Her performance this season was beyond anything we could have asked for from a freshman.”
