Ruben Amorim’s team has several big problems which need solving urgently in 2025 to avoid a disaster season.

The past few weeks have highlighted just how poor this Manchester United team is, with Ruben Amorim having an extremely tough job on his hands.

Things have become so bad that relegation is now being discussed by Amorim, which he says is the shock that United need after years of dismal underperformance.

One big problem is the wing-back roles. The current combination of Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui is an absolute disaster going forward, having seen United draw three consecutive blanks.

Ineos have no choice but to solve this position for Amorim, considering he was appointed with this system in mind and wing-backs are vital. So it is no shock to see so many links with talented wing-backs.

Bendito Mantato could save Ineos millions
Amorim is lucky that United have such a talented group of academy stars to draw from, with the left wing-back having some excellent options.

Harry Amass is one but looks set for a January loan, meanwhile, the expected arrival of Diego Leon from Paraguay will be an exciting future option for the role. However, there is one player who could actually soon be ready to play a role, Bendito Mantato.

The young Englishman is an elite U18 right-winger who is also a natural left-back. He promises to have a bright future at Old Trafford, as he often looks the most dangerous player on the pitch for Adam Lawrence’s side.

Mantato shares traits with Geovany Quenda, who Amorim turned into a teenage star at Sporting Lisbon. United fans have tipped Amoirm to love Mantato for this very reason, with the 16-year-old having every quality Amorim looks for in a wing-back.

Mantato’s physicality is a huge bonus for his chances of progressing, with his excellent dribbling and creativity lending themselves well to what Amorim desires in a wing-back.

Already since Amorim’s arrival, Mantato has been tipped to make his United debut, and the way things are going this could come soon. If Mantato were to step up, it would save United millions on transfers.

Ruben Amorim must now use Manchester United’s academy
Mantato becoming a first-team player may seem far-fetched right now, but in reality, it is something Amorim did time and time again for Sporting.

Promoting talented youngsters to fill gaps within the team is one reason Ineos picked the 39-year-old as it’s a clear priority for Sir Jim Ratcliffe to develop players as opposed to signing ready-made quality.

Well, after four consecutive losses, it could be that Amorim soon turns to the academy and Mantato for example to replace senior players who are simply underperforming and costing United right now.

The academy could offer solutions to multiple positions with the goalscoring talents of Chido Obi also now tipped to be on Amorim’s agenda in 2025.The likes of Raphael Varane, Paul Pogba, Angel Di Maria, Romelu Lukaku and Radamel Falcao have enjoyed huge success elsewhere but didn’t live up to expectations at United.

Even top young players such as Antony, Rasmus Hojlund and Jadon Sancho have found United a difficult home to fulfil their potential.

Joshua Zirkzee may be the latest name to join that list having so far struggled at Old Trafford

United signed Zirkzee from Bologna over the summer but his lack of goals has been a concern and fans even cheered Zirkzee off as he was substituted against Newcastle United on Monday.
