Manchester United are reportedly open to sending Joshua Zirkzee out on loan in January, as new manager Ruben Amorim does not deem the striker “suitable,” with Juventus expressing interest in a short-term deal for the Dutch forward, according to TuttoSport.

Zirkzee’s time at United has been challenging thus far, with only four Premier League starts and one goal in 17 appearances across all competitions. His lackluster performance has attracted criticism, including from Ian Wright, who suggested that the 23-year-old “will never succeed” at Old Trafford.

Amorim, who started his role at United earlier this week, has already expressed that Zirkzee may not meet the club’s standards. The Portuguese manager is reportedly interested in acquiring Viktor Gyokeres, which has increased the likelihood of a temporary move for Zirkzee. Juventus appears keen to take him on loan for the remainder of the season.

Zirkzee, signed from Bologna for £36.5 million over the summer, was expected to provide backup and competition for Rasmus Hojlund. However, after scoring in his debut against Fulham on the opening day, the former Bayern Munich player has struggled to make a strong impression at United.

The sacking of Erik ten Hag, Zirkzee’s compatriot, in October might not work in Zirkzee’s favor, as Amorim is not reportedly inclined to rely on him. TuttoSport claims that Amorim considers Zirkzee “unsuitable” and may wish to bring in Gyokeres as his replacement.

Although Fabrizio Romano ruled out United’s interest in the Swedish forward during the January window, Amorim is reportedly eager to reunite with Gyokeres next summer. In the meantime, the 39-year-old coach appears open to loaning out Zirkzee in January, with United assessing the value of their initial investment.

Juventus is said to be actively pursuing the Dutch striker, with TuttoSport reporting that the Italian club has already started working on the potential loan arrangement.
