The latest transfer rumors from the Premier League and beyond have sparked interest, with Liverpool reportedly aiming to outmaneuver Newcastle United in their pursuit of one of Europe’s most on-form players.

Newcastle United, also known as the Magpies, have been heavily linked to a high-profile move for PSV Eindhoven’s rising star, Johan Bakayoko. The Belgian international has made a significant impact this season, netting six goals and providing three assists in 21 appearances across various competitions. The 20-year-old, who has earned 18 caps for Belgium, has previously discussed his ambitions and commitment to PSV, expressing a strong desire to achieve greatness at the club.

In an interview with Eindhoven’s Dagblad during the summer, Bakayoko reflected on his goals and future aspirations, stating, “If I were to leave Eindhoven, it would only be for a club that competes for trophies, just like PSV. Becoming a champion is my main goal. I also want to win the Champions League. I believe I have the qualities to perform at the highest level. But PSV is already a top club, especially if many key players from last season remain here. It’s a fantastic place to play. I have never shown any unwillingness to be here. Even after the European Championships, it was great to return to PSV. The positive energy from last season is still alive.”

Such remarks have likely provided encouragement to clubs like Newcastle and Liverpool, who are closely monitoring Bakayoko’s situation. According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool has now officially joined the race to sign the talented winger, who is reportedly Newcastle’s primary target for the upcoming January transfer window. The report suggests that Liverpool may need to shell out a significant fee of around £50 million to secure Bakayoko’s signature. However, this amount is said to be well within the financial capabilities of the Merseyside club.
