BREAKING NEWS: Indiana Pacers Unveil $1.3 Billion Gainbridge Fieldhouse Renovation, Redefining Future of College Basketball

In a groundbreaking announcement that has the entire sports world buzzing, the Indiana Pacers have officially unveiled a historic $1.3 billion renovation to Gainbridge Fieldhouse, promising to revolutionize not just professional basketball, but the future of college hoops as well.

Pacers owner Herb Simon, alongside team president Kevin Pritchard and Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, revealed the ambitious plan during a press conference this morning in Indianapolis. Dubbed “The Fieldhouse of the Future”, the renovation is set to transform the iconic downtown arena into a state-of-the-art multipurpose venue tailored for NBA action, NCAA tournaments, and elite youth basketball events.

Among the upgrades are a futuristic retractable glass roof, an immersive 360-degree jumbotron, enhanced seating experiences, expanded concourses, luxury lounges, and high-tech locker room suites. Most notably, the new design includes dedicated spaces for college basketball programs across Indiana, creating a year-round hub for the sport at all levels.

“This is bigger than basketball,” said Governor Holcomb. “This investment reaffirms Indiana as the heartbeat of the sport—not just for the Pacers, but for every college kid who dreams of playing on the big stage.”

The announcement comes with a major partnership between the Pacers organization and the NCAA, bringing select March Madness games, Big Ten tournaments, and annual in-season showcases featuring IU, Purdue, Notre Dame, and Butler to the newly renovated arena.

Construction is set to begin later this year, with phased renovations to be completed by 2028. The Pacers will continue to play home games during construction with minimal disruption.

“This is a love letter to Indiana basketball,” said Pritchard. “From high school heroes to college legends to NBA stars—Gainbridge Fieldhouse is now truly everybody’s home court.”

College basketball just got a new epicenter—and it’s right in the heart of Hoosier Nation.
