In a momentous honor that transcends the game, Texas Longhorns Softball Head Coach Mike White has been named College Softball’s 2025 Philanthropy Icon, recognizing his extraordinary humanitarian work and transformational impact off the field. The award, presented by the National Collegiate Softball Council (NCSC), highlights White’s profound dedication to serving underprivileged communities through the Mike White Family Foundation.

Coach White, who has led the Longhorns to national prominence on the diamond, has long embraced a leadership role that reaches far beyond softball. His foundation has become a beacon of hope for thousands, focusing on youth empowerment, mental health awareness, education accessibility, and community revitalization across Texas and beyond.

The NCSC praised White not only for his consistent championship-caliber leadership but for his “unwavering commitment to uplifting humanity through tangible action.” The award ceremony, held at the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City, featured emotional testimonials from families and student-athletes whose lives have been directly impacted by his outreach.

“Coach White’s legacy isn’t just about wins and trophies. It’s about the lives he’s touched, the communities he’s helped build, and the inspiration he’s given to the next generation,” said NCSC President Angela Carter. “He is the heart of what college athletics should represent.”

Since its founding in 2019, the Mike White Family Foundation has raised over $7.8 million, channeling funds into mentorship programs, scholarships for underserved students, adaptive sports access for disabled youth, and disaster relief initiatives. Most recently, the foundation launched “Pitch Forward,” a mental wellness program now adopted by over 30 high schools in Texas.

White, visibly moved during the ceremony, thanked his family, coaching staff, and players for standing beside him in every step of the foundation’s journey.

“This honor belongs to everyone who’s joined us in believing that sport can be a vehicle for change,” said White. “I coach softball, but I live to serve. The wins matter, but helping someone find their path—that’s the real championship.”

Longhorns players took to social media, celebrating their coach’s recognition with messages of pride and admiration. The phrase “#CoachWithHeart” trended nationwide by evening.

As the 2025 season continues, one thing is clear—Mike White has cemented his legacy not only as a top-tier coach but as one of college softball’s most compassionate and impactful humanitarians.
