Ryder Cowan’s journey to the University of Oklahoma began long before he ever stepped foot on campus

Ryder Cowan’s journey to the University of Oklahoma began long before he ever stepped foot on campus. Growing up just down the road in Edmond, Ryder spent his childhood dreaming of one day wearing the iconic Crimson and Cream. Today, that dream has become a reality—and he’s making the most of every moment.

“Choosing Oklahoma was never really a decision,” Ryder shared. “It’s always been my dream school. As soon as the opportunity came, I knew exactly where I belonged.” Now a proud Sooner, Ryder is not only representing his home state but also thriving in a program that is helping shape him into the athlete and individual he always aspired to be.

Whether on the field or in the classroom, Ryder has embraced the Sooner standard—a commitment to excellence that drives every member of the OU community. He credits the coaching staff and his teammates for pushing him to improve daily, while also highlighting the importance of personal growth off the field. “They’re not just building football players here; they’re building men,” he said.

Ryder’s passion for the game is matched by his dedication to his studies. Balancing athletics with academics isn’t easy, but he’s determined to rise to the challenge. “This program has taught me discipline and focus,” he explained. “It’s about being the best you can be in every area of life.”

As Ryder continues to develop as both a player and a person, he remains grounded in his roots and motivated by the pride of representing Oklahoma. “Every time I put on that jersey, I think about the kid in Edmond who dreamed of this moment. Now I’m here, and I’m giving it everything I’ve got.”
