DONE DEAL: Beloved Texans Legend Duane Brown Named 2025 Offensive Line Coordinator, Aiming to Rebuild Unit Post-Tunsil, Enhance Run Game, and Guide Longhorns to Deep Playoff Run

In a move that’s sending waves of excitement through Longhorn Nation, the University of Texas has officially named Duane Brown as the 2025 Offensive Line Coordinator. The former Houston Texans All-Pro and Longhorn standout returns to his alma mater at a pivotal time, following the departure of key players including star tackle Laremy Tunsil. Brown is tasked with restoring dominance in the trenches and revitalizing the Longhorns’ ground game as they prepare for a championship push in the expanded College Football Playoff.

Brown, a 15-year NFL veteran known for his leadership, discipline, and technical excellence, brings not only professional pedigree but also deep ties to the Texas football community. A first-round pick in 2008, Brown spent the bulk of his pro career anchoring offensive lines for the Texans and later the Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets. Throughout his career, he was widely respected for his durability and football IQ—attributes Texas is counting on as it transitions into a new era.

“This is home,” Brown said during his introductory press conference in Austin on Tuesday. “Texas made me the player I became in the NFL, and now I have the opportunity to give back, develop these young men, and bring a championship mindset to the offensive line room.”

His return comes at a critical juncture. With Tunsil heading to the NFL and several other linemen graduating, Texas faces a rebuilding phase up front. Brown’s top priority will be molding a new-look line capable of protecting the quarterback and paving lanes for what promises to be one of the most dynamic backfields in the nation.

Sources close to the program say Brown’s arrival has already energized both recruits and current players, many of whom grew up watching him dominate on Sundays. Head coach Steve Sarkisian praised the hire as a “game-changer,” emphasizing Brown’s ability to connect with players and translate elite-level technique into college development.

“We’re not just trying to compete,” Sarkisian said. “We’re trying to win championships—and Duane gives us the edge we need on the offensive line.”

With playoff expansion raising the stakes in 2025, Texas is all-in on building a contender. Brown’s NFL background, passion for the program, and focus on toughness and execution could be the key ingredients for a breakthrough season in Austin.

As offseason workouts begin, one thing is clear: the Longhorns’ offensive line just got a whole lot tougher—and their goals just got a lot bigger.
