Barcelona prepared to offer two players for Chelsea superstar in the most outrageous swap deal of the year
Barcelona is reportedly planning a bold move to acquire a star player from Chelsea in what could be one of the most remarkable transfer deals of the year. The Spanish giants are allegedly ready to offer two of their own players in exchange for the highly sought-after Chelsea midfielder.
The Catalan club has solidified its reputation as a dominant force in European football this season. Currently leading La Liga, ahead of their fierce rivals Real Madrid, and maintaining a strong position among the top teams in the Champions League, Barcelona aims to further bolster its squad.
According to reports from Spanish media, as shared by TeamTalk, Barcelona is keen on signing Enzo Fernandez, Chelsea’s prized midfield star. To secure the Argentine’s signature, Barcelona is prepared to include Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres as part of a potential swap deal.
Fernandez, who became one of the Premier League’s most expensive players after his £107 million transfer to Chelsea nearly two years ago, has been in impressive form. Despite this, Barcelona hopes to avoid paying a hefty transfer fee by offering their players in exchange.
De Jong and Torres, who were signed by Barcelona for a combined total of £115 million, have seen their market values decline due to inconsistent performances. Currently, Transfermarkt estimates De Jong’s value at £49.3 million and Torres’ at £24.6 million.
The potential swap deal arises amid Fernandez’s strong resurgence at Chelsea. Although initially sidelined by the new Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, Fernandez has since become a key player, contributing three goals and six assists in his last six matches across all competitions. His consistent performances, including a goal contribution in each of his previous five Premier League games, have made him indispensable.
This season, Fernandez has appeared in 19 matches for Chelsea and is reportedly considered a vital part of the club’s future plans. Chelsea has no intention of selling him in either the upcoming January transfer window or the summer. Nevertheless, Barcelona’s ambitious proposal signals their determination to strengthen their squad further.
