BREAKING: Houston Rockets Star Jalen Green Donates Entire $1.8 Million Bonus and Endorsement Contract to Charities and Homelessness Support Organizations

HOUSTON, TX — May 15, 2025 — In a remarkable display of generosity and social commitment, Houston Rockets guard Jalen Green has donated his entire $1.8 million performance bonus and recent endorsement earnings to support charities and organizations dedicated to combating homelessness and uplifting underserved communities.

The 23-year-old NBA rising star, known for his explosive athleticism and leadership on the court, announced the donation Wednesday via a heartfelt statement shared through his foundation, The JG Initiative. According to the release, the $1.8 million will be distributed among several Houston-based non-profits, national homelessness support groups, and youth empowerment organizations.

“This is bigger than basketball,” Green said. “I’ve been blessed with a platform and resources, and I believe it’s my responsibility to give back to the communities that shaped me and need help the most. Too many families are out on the streets, too many kids don’t have a safe place to sleep. I want to be part of the solution.”

Green’s donation is one of the most significant charitable contributions made by an active NBA player in recent years. Of the total, $1 million will go directly to homelessness prevention and housing assistance programs in Houston, including the Coalition for the Homeless, Star of Hope Mission, and SEARCH Homeless Services. The remaining $800,000 is earmarked for youth mentorship programs, food security initiatives, and scholarships for underserved high school seniors.

Leaders from several beneficiary organizations praised Green’s act of kindness.

“Jalen’s generosity is truly inspiring,” said Marilyn Brown, President and CEO of the Coalition for the Homeless. “His support will make an immediate impact, helping us provide emergency housing, transitional services, and long-term solutions for families in need.”

Green, who was selected second overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, has previously expressed his desire to use his influence for positive change. Through The JG Initiative, he’s led sneaker drives, hosted youth basketball camps, and partnered with schools to promote mental health awareness.

Fellow teammates, coaches, and fans across the league took to social media to applaud his action, with many calling him a role model for athletes and young people alike.

“This is leadership,” said Rockets Head Coach Ime Udoka. “What Jalen’s doing off the court shows the kind of man he is. He leads with heart.”

Green concluded his statement by urging others to get involved: “We can all play a part. Whether it’s time, money, or simply compassion, we all have something to give.”

This breaking news reaffirms Jalen Green’s status as not only a rising NBA star but a force for goodbeyond the hardwood.
