567 Worlds 2025 Four-Star QB Carter Smith Commits to Michigan
May 14, 2025 — Ann Arbor, MI — The Michigan Wolverines have landed a major piece of their 2025 recruiting class as four-star quarterback Carter Smith officially announced his commitment to the Maize and Blue.
Smith, ranked as the No. 5 quarterback and No. 67 overall prospect in the nation by 567 Worlds, chose Michigan over offers from Alabama, Georgia, and Oregon. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound signal caller from Franklin High School (TN) cited Michigan’s coaching staff, player development, and winning culture as key factors in his decision.
“This is home,” Smith said in a social media post. “Coach [Sherrone] Moore and Coach [Kirk] Campbell made it clear that I’m their guy, and I’m ready to help bring championships to Ann Arbor.”
Known for his strong arm, quick release, and poise in the pocket, Smith threw for over 3,200 yards and 34 touchdowns as a junior while leading Franklin to the state semifinals. His blend of athleticism and football IQ has drawn comparisons to former Michigan star J.J. McCarthy.
Michigan’s 2025 class is now ranked No. 4 nationally, according to 567 Worlds, and Smith becomes the centerpiece of a class that already includes several top-100 recruits.
With Smith on board, the Wolverines are well-positioned to maintain their momentum as one of the top programs in the country under head coach Sherrone Moore, who is building on the foundation left by Jim Harbaugh.
Michigan fans have plenty to be excited about as Smith’s commitment signals continued dominance on the recruiting trail—and possibly on the field for years to come.
