**JUST IN: Indiana Pacers Sign 39-Year-Old Veteran Center Al Horford to 2-Year Deal**

**INDIANAPOLIS** – In a surprise offseason move, the Indiana Pacers are officially signing veteran center Al Horford to a two-year deal, league sources confirmed Thursday. The 39-year-old five-time All-Star will bring over 17 years of NBA experience to one of the league’s youngest and most promising rosters.

Horford, who spent the last five seasons with the Boston Celtics, played a key role in Boston’s deep playoff runs, including their 2024 NBA Finals appearance. Known for his high basketball IQ, versatile defense, and leadership both on and off the court, Horford averaged 7.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in just under 25 minutes per game last season.

According to insiders, the Pacers see Horford as an ideal mentor to rising star Jarace Walker and big man Isaiah Jackson, while also providing depth behind All-Star center Myles Turner. The deal is reportedly worth approximately \$10 million over two years, with the second year partially guaranteed.

“Al brings the kind of veteran presence every young team needs,” one league executive told reporters. “He’s a culture-setter and still capable of impacting winning.”

Indiana, coming off a strong playoff run that ended in the Eastern Conference Finals, has made clear its intention to compete at the highest level in 2025. Adding Horford gives the team another locker-room leader and a steady option in the frontcourt.

Horford, originally drafted third overall in 2007 by the Atlanta Hawks, has played over 1,100 regular-season games and 185 playoff games in his career. He is widely respected across the league for his professionalism, conditioning, and ability to adapt to different roles.

The Pacers are expected to introduce Horford at a press conference early next week. For now, fans can celebrate the addition of a seasoned veteran who brings a wealth of playoff experience to a team on the rise.
