Former UNC Star RJ Davis Signs Exhibitโ€‘10 with Lakers After Going Undrafted

Former North Carolina standout RJ Davis has secured an Exhibitโ€‘10 contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, marking his first step into the NBA after going undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft .

Davis, a 6-foot point guard from White Plains, New York, concluded his five-year Tar Heel career averaging 17.2 points, 3.6 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 41.8% from the field and 36.7% from three-point range . He earned first-team All-American honors last season, pacing UNC with 21.2 points and 3.5 assists, and ranks as the second-leading scorer in program history .

An Exhibitโ€‘10 deal is essentially a one-year, minimum-salary, non-guaranteed contract, allowing the Lakers to evaluate Davis during Summer League and training camp . If he performs well, the Lakers could convert it into a two-way contractโ€”one that would split time between the NBA and the G League. Should they choose not to, Davis is likely to join the Lakersโ€™ G-League affiliate, with the added incentive of a bonus (up to $75K) if he remains with the affiliate for 60 days .

At UNC, Davis built a reputation as a lethal scorer and playmaker, showcasing advanced ballhandling and high basketball IQ, although scouts have raised concerns about his defensive impact due to his smaller frame . Nonetheless, his ability to attack close-outs, get to the rim, and stretch the floor makes him an appealing prospect in modern NBA systems.

For the Lakers, this signing adds offensive depth to their backcourt as they aim to fill out their Summer League roster and find undervalued talents . Davis joins other undrafted signees like Eric Dixon and Arthur Kaluma in the audition for a role under the Lakersโ€™ umbrella.

As Summer League approaches, RJ Davis will be eager to showcase that his collegiate success can translate to the professional level, and that he deserves a **spotโ€”and maybe even a two-way dealโ€”**with the Lakers organization.
