OKC Thunder Legend Nick Collison Donates $4.5 Million to Build Housing Facility for Homeless Youth

In an inspiring act of compassion and leadership, Oklahoma City Thunder legend Nick Collison has announced a $4.5 million donation to support the construction of a new housing facility for homeless and underprivileged youth in Oklahoma City. This transformative contribution is set to provide shelter, safety, and opportunity for countless young people facing adversity.

The facility, expected to break ground later this year, will offer permanent housing, educational support, life skills training, and access to mental health resources. It will serve as a beacon of hope for youth aged 16–24 who are experiencing homelessness, at risk of aging out of the foster care system, or coming from unstable backgrounds.

Collison, widely respected for his 15-year NBA career—all with the Thunder/Seattle SuperSonics franchise—and his continued involvement in the OKC community, said the project is deeply personal to him.

> “Oklahoma City has given me so much,” Collison said in a statement. “This community supported me throughout my career, and I’ve seen firsthand the power of coming together. I want these young people to know that they matter, that they are not forgotten.”

The initiative is part of a partnership with local nonprofit organizations, the City of Oklahoma City, and Collison’s personal foundation. Community leaders and Thunder executives praised the gift as a “game-changing” moment for social impact in the city.

> “Nick has always been a leader on and off the court,” said Thunder GM Sam Presti. “This donation reflects his heart, his values, and his lasting commitment to the city that embraced him.”

Construction is projected to be completed by late 2026, with the facility expected to house over 80 young residents at a time.

Once again, Nick Collison proves why he’s not only a Thunder legend—but a true champion for humanity.
