Texas Softball Celebrates 2025 NCAA D1 Championship with Fans in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas โ€” June 9, 2025 โ€” The 2025 NCAA Division I softball champions, the Texas Longhorns, were welcomed home in style on Monday as fans packed Red & Charline McCombs Field to celebrate the teamโ€™s historic Womenโ€™s College World Series (WCWS) victory.

Fresh off their dominant WCWS run, the Longhorns returned to Austin to a heroโ€™s welcome, greeted by a sea of burnt orange. Fans, students, alumni, and families gathered to honor the squad that made history, delivering the programโ€™s first-ever national title and cementing Texas softball as a national powerhouse.

The celebration, held under sunny skies, featured music, championship gear giveaways, player autographs, and speeches from coaches, university officials, and players. Head Coach Mike White, who guided the Longhorns to their record-setting season, thanked the fans for their unwavering support throughout the year.

โ€œThis title belongs to all of Longhorn Nation,โ€ White said, holding up the championship trophy to roaring applause. โ€œFrom fall training to the last out in Oklahoma City, you believed in us. This is a dream come true.โ€

Star pitcher and WCWS Most Outstanding Player Sophia Simpson echoed that sentiment. โ€œWeโ€™ve worked for this moment every single day. The energy you gave us in the stands, in the streets, and on social media โ€” we felt it all,โ€ Simpson said. โ€œTo celebrate it here at home with you is everything.โ€

Texas capped off their season with a thrilling WCWS Finals sweep over powerhouse Oklahoma, flipping the script from past heartbreaks. With stellar pitching, clutch hitting, and unshakable team chemistry, the Longhorns left no doubt they were the best team in the nation.

The celebration also marked a cultural moment for womenโ€™s sports in Texas. University President Jay Hartzell called it โ€œa defining moment not just for our program, but for womenโ€™s athletics across the country.โ€

Fans filled the stadium and surrounding areas, many wearing shirts emblazoned with โ€œNatty Champsโ€ and โ€œFirst But Not Last.โ€ Several young softball players in attendance looked on in awe, clearly inspired by the teamโ€™s success.

As the sun set over Austin, the message was clear: Texas softballโ€™s national title run was more than just a winโ€”it was a movement.

The 2025 Longhorns didnโ€™t just make history. They changed it. And on June 9, they brought it home.
