Michigan’s Steve Casula Turns Down $34 Million Offer from Ohio State

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — In a stunning development that underscores the intensity of the Michigan–Ohio State rivalry, Michigan Wolverines tight ends coach and special teams coordinator Steve Casula has turned down a massive $34 million offer from Ohio State University.

The offer, reportedly spanning six years, would have made Casula one of the highest-paid assistants in college football history. But the 39-year-old coach has opted to remain in Ann Arbor, citing loyalty to the Michigan program and unfinished business with the Wolverines.

In a brief statement released Wednesday, Casula said, “Michigan is home. I believe in what we’re building here. No amount of money can replace the pride I feel wearing maize and blue and being part of something bigger than myself.”

Casula has been instrumental in Michigan’s recent success, overseeing one of the nation’s top special teams units and helping develop standout tight ends. His decision comes amid heightened tension between the two powerhouse programs, as both prepare for another high-stakes clash this fall.

Ohio State officials have not publicly commented on the offer or Casula’s rejection.

Casula’s choice is being hailed by Michigan fans as a major win off the field — a testament to the culture and loyalty within the Wolverines’ football program.
