Darrell Clarke Declares He Has ‘Unfinished Business’ at Bristol Rovers

Darrell Clarke has been reappointed as the head coach of Bristol Rovers, declaring that he has “unfinished business” with the club he once led to consecutive promotions.

Clarke, who managed the Gas from 2014 to 2018, returns at a pivotal moment following the club’s recent struggles and drop to League Two. His previous spell at the Memorial Stadium saw him guide Rovers from the National League back to League One in just two seasons, building a strong connection with both fans and players.

In his first statement since rejoining, Clarke expressed both gratitude and ambition:

“It’s difficult to put into words just how special it feels to return to this club. I’m proud to be back, and I truly believe I have unfinished business here.”

He added, “The last season was tough, but this club’s potential is massive. We’ve tasted success before, and now it’s about building on that and delivering more for our fans.”

Rovers’ Director of Football, Ricky Martin, praised the appointment, describing Clarke as “an experienced and passionate coach” whose return injects both belief and energy into the club’s future.

Clarke’s reappointment has been warmly received by supporters, many of whom still remember his emotional commitment during his first spell. As he prepares for the upcoming League Two campaign, Clarke made it clear he’s back not for nostalgia but for results.

“We’re not here to dwell on the past. We’re here to write a new chapter—and this time, we’re aiming higher.”

Bristol Rovers now look ahead with renewed optimism, driven by a familiar face with a point to prove.
