Tennessee Athletics will honor veterans and service members with its annual Salute to Service game, a cherished tradition that pays tribute to the brave men and women who have served in the armed forces. This special event will highlight the university’s commitment to supporting veterans and their families while recognizing their sacrifices and contributions. Throughout the game, various activities and ceremonies will take place, providing an opportunity for students, fans, and the community to join in celebrating our nation’s heroes.

One of the most prominent features of the event will be the participation of the University of Tennessee’s Army and Air Force ROTC programs. These dedicated students, along with service members from other branches of the military, will lead the Vol Walk and serve as the color guard during the pregame ceremony. The ROTC cadets will proudly present the colors as the national anthem is performed, creating a powerful moment of unity and reverence for those who have defended the country.

In addition to the ROTC-led ceremonies, a dramatic pregame flyover will showcase a KC-135 aircraft from the 134th Air Refueling Wing at McGhee Tyson Air Base. This awe-inspiring display will serve as a reminder of the important role that the military plays in safeguarding our freedoms. The flyover will also provide a memorable visual moment for all attendees, enhancing the sense of respect and gratitude that fills the stadium during this special game.

The Salute to Service game is just one part of a larger initiative by the University of Tennessee to celebrate veterans throughout the month of November. The university will host a series of events designed to engage the community, honor veterans, and raise awareness about the sacrifices made by military personnel. These events will provide opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to participate in meaningful activities that recognize the service and dedication of veterans and active-duty military members.

By holding the Salute to Service game and supporting other veterans’ events, the University of Tennessee reinforces its deep commitment to honoring those who have served in the military. It serves as a reminder that the sacrifices of veterans should not be forgotten, and it provides a platform for the entire community to express its gratitude and support. Through these efforts, Tennessee Athletics and the university as a whole continue to play an important role in fostering a culture of respect and appreciation for veterans.
