ESPN REPORT: Netflix Unveils “The Dynasty Blueprint” — Groundbreaking Documentary Series Chronicling Nick Saban’s Iconic Career

LOS ANGELES (May 12, 2025) — In a major announcement that’s already generating buzz across the sports world, Netflix has officially unveiled “The Dynasty Blueprint,” a groundbreaking new documentary series that explores the extraordinary life and career of legendary college football coach Nick Saban. The highly anticipated series is set to premiere globally on June 20, 2025, and will offer an unprecedented inside look at the making of one of the greatest dynasties in college football history.

Produced in collaboration with ESPN Films and directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Ezra Edelman (O.J.: Made in America), “The Dynasty Blueprint” spans six episodes, each delving into a different era of Saban’s football journey—from his early coaching days in the 1970s through his reign at Alabama, where he captured seven national titles and reshaped the landscape of college football.

Netflix describes the series as “a deep and personal exploration of what it takes to build, sustain, and evolve a winning culture,” highlighting Saban’s unique blend of discipline, innovation, and relentless pursuit of excellence. The documentary features exclusive interviews with Saban himself, as well as former players, coaches, rivals, and sports journalists who witnessed his transformation of Alabama into a modern-day football empire.

“I never set out to build a dynasty,” Saban says in the trailer. “I just wanted to help young men reach their full potential — on and off the field. The rest took care of itself.”

Among those interviewed are Heisman Trophy winners Derrick Henry and DeVonta Smith, coaching protégés like Kirby Smart and Jimbo Fisher, and even former rivals including Urban Meyer. The series also explores the cultural impact of Saban’s Alabama teams, examining how they reflected and influenced the evolution of college athletics over two decades.

Saban, who retired from coaching in early 2024, has remained a powerful voice in the sport through broadcasting and mentorship. “The Dynasty Blueprint” marks the most comprehensive visual account of his legacy to date and is expected to draw a wide audience — from diehard Alabama fans to casual sports viewers.

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit praised the project, saying, “This isn’t just about football. It’s about leadership, pressure, and how greatness is never an accident.”

With its global premiere on Netflix, “The Dynasty Blueprint” promises to immortalize the story of Nick Saban for generations to come — not just as a coach, but as an architect of one of sport’s most enduring dynasties.

Streaming begins June 20 exclusively on Netflix.
