INSANE: Mia Scott makes history, becomes the first player in Texas Longhorns history to play all nine positions in a single game…

On May 3, 2025, Texas Longhorns senior Mia Scott etched her name into the program’s history books during a 12-3 rout of Kentucky. In a display of unparalleled versatility, Scott became the first Longhorn to play all nine positions in a single softball game, a feat that captured the imagination of fans and teammates alike. This extraordinary performance, which unfolded over five innings, showcased Scott’s athletic prowess and cemented her legacy as one of Texas’ most dynamic players.

Scott, typically the team’s starting third baseman, embarked on this historic journey without a premeditated plan. According to Texas coach Mike White, the idea emerged spontaneously, and he embraced it as the Longhorns built a commanding lead early in the game. With three runs in the first inning and seven more in the second, Texas’ dominance provided the perfect stage for Scott’s positional odyssey. Starting at third base, she rotated through shortstop, first base, the outfield, catcher, and culminated her tour in the pitcher’s circle, where she retired a batter in just four pitches.

The game, a run-rule victory, was more than a showcase of Scott’s versatility. She contributed offensively with a double, a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored, proving her impact extended beyond her defensive acrobatics. Teammate Joley Mitchell, initially confused by Scott’s positional shifts, praised her leadership and work ethic, noting, “She’s a huge asset to this team.” The crowd’s energy fueled Scott, who thrived under the spotlight of her Senior Day celebration.
