The National Football Foundation (NFF) has proudly announced Jordy Nelson, the former Kansas State Wildcats standout and longtime Green Bay Packers wide receiver, as the recipient of the prestigious Gold Medalโ€”the highest honor awarded by the NFF for outstanding contributions to the game of football.

This distinguished accolade recognizes Nelson not only for his incredible achievements on the field but also for his exemplary character, leadership, and service off of it. A fan-favorite for his humility, work ethic, and integrity, Nelson joins a legendary list of past recipients that includes U.S. presidents, Hall of Fame athletes, and other transformative figures in the sport.

Nelson’s football journey is a testament to perseverance and excellence. From a walk-on at Kansas State to becoming an All-American wide receiver, his college career was marked by explosive plays and relentless dedication. He later enjoyed a stellar NFL career, most notably with the Green Bay Packers, where he became a Super Bowl champion and one of quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ most trusted targets. Over 11 seasons in the league, Nelson accumulated more than 8,500 receiving yards and 72 touchdowns, earning a Pro Bowl selection and the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award in 2016.

Beyond his impressive stats, Nelson has remained committed to his roots and his values. After retiring from football, he returned to his family farm in Kansas and became actively involved in community and philanthropic work, focusing on youth development and agriculture education. His continued service to his hometown and the sport made him an ideal candidate for this year’s Gold Medal.

“Jordy Nelson exemplifies everything we stand for at the National Football Foundation,” said NFF Chairman Archie Manning. “His accomplishments on the field are extraordinary, but it’s his unwavering commitment to character, family, and community that truly set him apart.”

The Gold Medal was presented to Nelson during the NFF Annual Awards Dinner in Las Vegas, where he received a standing ovation from an audience filled with football legends, coaches, and administrators. In his acceptance speech, Nelson expressed gratitude to his coaches, teammates, family, and fans, stating, “Football has given me more than I could ever give back. I’m honored and humbled to be recognized in this way.”

Congratulations once again to Jordy Nelsonโ€”a true champion of the game and an enduring symbol of what football can inspire.
