LUBBOCK, Texas — In an extraordinary act of generosity that has stunned the sports world, Texas Tech men’s basketball head coach Grant McCasland has donated the entirety of his recent $8.4 million performance bonus and endorsement earnings to various charities and homeless relief organizations across Texas and beyond.
The donation, announced Tuesday during a press conference at the United Supermarkets Arena, is being hailed as one of the most remarkable philanthropic gestures by a collegiate coach in NCAA history.
McCasland, who led the Red Raiders to a historic Final Four appearance this past season, secured the multimillion-dollar bonus as part of his contract incentives tied to team performance. The funds will be distributed among several organizations, including the Lubbock Homeless Consortium, Feeding Texas, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and a newly established McCasland Foundation aimed at supporting youth sports and education in underserved communities.
